Steelcor manufactures oil and air-cooled transformers from 10 to 4 000 kVA and having a primary voltage of up to 33 000 volts. The majority of our air-cooled class H transformers are supplied in IP55 enclosures with a heat exchange for cooling so that the outside air does not come into contact with the core and coils.

The following transformers are available:

1. Air      cooled distribution transformers up to 2 000 kVA @ 33 000 volts.
2. Oil      cooled distribution transformers up to 4 000 kVA @ 33 000 volts.
3. Converter      transformers for thyristor drives.
4. Furnace      transformers.

Steelcor supplies new transformers locally and internationally and also repairs and services the above-mentioned products.

Steelcor have been pioneers in manufacturing and supplying transformers filled with natural biodegradable, fire retardant Ester Oil.

 Steelcor manufactures a large range of custom-built mineral, air-cooled and Ester Oil miniature substations:

1. Plinth      mounted utility style sub stations.
2. Mining      substations either with track wheels, skids or underground vehicle      locating pins.

2 000 Kva @ 33 000 volts.

A range of switchboards up to 22 kV are manufactured to customer’s specifications using the RM6 extensible range.

Circuit breakers and isolators with current ratings of 200Amps and 630Amps are available with adjustable earth fault and over current relays.

Buss couplers and buss connected voltage transformers are also available.

Indoor and outdoor switchboards are available. Outdoor switchboards are completely weatherproof.

All switchgear and cubicles have been tested for arc venting characteristics at NETFA to IEC 62271-200/202.

 Underground mobile switching substations which are mounted on track wheels or skids are manufactured to customer’s specifications or designed by our technical team. The maximum voltage we are capable of supplying is 22 000 volts at a current rating of 630 Amps.

 Cable clamps are used extensively throughout the mining industry. The cable clamp comprises two sections: a fixed unit and a sliding section. The fixed unit is designed to hook onto a plate and is supplied complete with a fixing bolt and nut. The internal face is ribbed to prevent any cable movement with the passage of time.

On the outside of the sliding component there is an integral hammer wedge used for locking the slider on the cable during assembly in the shaft.

The unit is locally designed and manufactured with the result that non-standard applications can be designed to suit specialised conditions.
